The entire campus of the North Powder School District was on LOCKOUT on Wednesday, January 24, per a recommendation from the Baker County Sheriff's Office. According to law enforcement, there was a threat directed at Baker City schools and as a precaution, the Sheriff's Office advised North Powder to go into LOCKOUT. All students and staff were safely secured in the buildings. Later in the day, the Sheriff's Office stated it was safe. Students were released at regular time on Wednesday, and North Powder schools were on regular schedule for Thursday, January 25. The district thanks everyone for remaining calm during the situation.
