In 2021, the state legislature directed the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) to review state high school graduation requirements. My program at Portland State University, Oregon’s Kitchen Table (https://www.oregonskitchentable.org/), is working with ODE to gather input from people across the state about this topic.
Oregon’s Kitchen Table will be holding an online (Zoom) community conversation for community members in InterMountain ESD on 3/1, 3-5 pm. Participants can register here REGISTRATION LINK to attend. This meeting is open to community members in InterMountain ESD. We hope to especially hear from parents and students, including recent high school graduates, in your region.

Dear Elementary families,
We have some good news we want to share with all of you. EVERY SINGLE CHILD IN OUR ELEMENTARY HAS MADE GROWTH IN THEIR READING THIS YEAR, which include the Pre-K students. You read that correctly. And, 96.5% of our elementary students made growth in math! WOW! Even amongst the craziness of our school year, our students are achieving great things and making progress that makes our hearts sing. We were a little bit nervous for our test results, as when we thought back to our last month plus, it has been a bit hectic with preparations for the Christmas concert, Christmas vacation, and then we returned to snow days and a late start, followed by three days of school, an extra long weekend, and a few days of CDL. When everyone returned, we knew our time was limited to get our students assessed in both reading and math. Our staff went to work, and when we looked at the results, we were all pleasantly surprised. I have always been proud of our students and staff, but these results are truly awesome. We have 122 students in Pre-K through fifth grade, and it says a lot that every child grew. We wanted to share the good news!
Sincerely,
Molly Smith - Principal
Lance Dixon - Superintendent

All high school basketball games today will be played in the old gym. The jv girl's game will only be a half of a game, but game times for the following games will not change. Tonight is also pink night and senior night! It's a great day to be a Badger! Come out and support our athletes!

There is an opportunity for 7th and 8th grade students to participate in golf, baseball, and softball with Baker Middle School. North Powder School District is not sponsoring this, however families may sign their students up for this. The cost is $250 for baseball and softball, and $75 for golf. Here is the link to fill out the paperwork. https://www.familyid.com/baker-school-district

The sophomore class is selling hats. Check out the flyer.

This is a reminder that tomorrow we have sports pictures. We are short on packets, so if your athlete does not bring a packet home, more more packets will be available during pictures. Here is the price structure.

Imbler is hosting a taco feed tonight at the basketball games. $6 for a meal or $20 for a family of 4, which includes tacos in a bag or 2 tacos served with drink and dessert. They are raising money for their Senior Grad Party.

Report cards are being sent home with each elementary child today. Please check their backpacks. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school.

North Powder School District is on a two hour late start because of the road conditions. There will not be Pre-K today. Please be safe everyone.

February 9th will be picture day for our winter sports. Pictures will be taken in the following order:
MS Girls - MS gym 5:00
HS GIrls - New Gym immediately after MS (5:30ish)

Dear North Powder School District Parents/Guardian,
Good morning. After great consideration, the district has chosen to go to CDL for the next two days. We do not take this decision lightly, but knowing we have a handful of students who have tested positive and dozens of students and a few staff that have been in contact with those students, we believe this is the safest decision for all. Here is the CDL schedule. The Senior Project class will meet tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. on Google Meets with Mrs. Colton.
Parents can pick-up Chromebooks and other items needed from 3 - 4:30 today at school. Mrs. Street will deliver items to families in La Grande. Mrs. Smith will have things available in Baker from 5 - 6 at 3200 Birch Street. If you are coming to the school to pick up needed items , please wear a face covering.
Mr. Dunten is in the process of rescheduling this weekend's games and will get that information out via the school website ASAP. There will be no practice this week. Also, Ski for the Health of It is also canceled for the week.
At this time the district does not have hotspots available. Please contact Mrs. Smith or Mr. Dixon if you have questions or concerns. Thank you for your continued understanding and support as we continue to navigate the nuances of the pandemic.
Respectfully,
Lance L. Dixon/Superintendent
Molly Smith/Principal
