Dear Elementary families,
We have some good news we want to share with all of you. EVERY SINGLE CHILD IN OUR ELEMENTARY HAS MADE GROWTH IN THEIR READING THIS YEAR, which include the Pre-K students. You read that correctly. And, 96.5% of our elementary students made growth in math! WOW! Even amongst the craziness of our school year, our students are achieving great things and making progress that makes our hearts sing. We were a little bit nervous for our test results, as when we thought back to our last month plus, it has been a bit hectic with preparations for the Christmas concert, Christmas vacation, and then we returned to snow days and a late start, followed by three days of school, an extra long weekend, and a few days of CDL. When everyone returned, we knew our time was limited to get our students assessed in both reading and math. Our staff went to work, and when we looked at the results, we were all pleasantly surprised. I have always been proud of our students and staff, but these results are truly awesome. We have 122 students in Pre-K through fifth grade, and it says a lot that every child grew. We wanted to share the good news!
Sincerely,
Molly Smith - Principal
Lance Dixon - Superintendent

Dear North Powder School District Parents/Guardian,
Good morning. After great consideration, the district has chosen to go to CDL for the next two days. We do not take this decision lightly, but knowing we have a handful of students who have tested positive and dozens of students and a few staff that have been in contact with those students, we believe this is the safest decision for all. Here is the CDL schedule. The Senior Project class will meet tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. on Google Meets with Mrs. Colton.
Parents can pick-up Chromebooks and other items needed from 3 - 4:30 today at school. Mrs. Street will deliver items to families in La Grande. Mrs. Smith will have things available in Baker from 5 - 6 at 3200 Birch Street. If you are coming to the school to pick up needed items , please wear a face covering.
Mr. Dunten is in the process of rescheduling this weekend's games and will get that information out via the school website ASAP. There will be no practice this week. Also, Ski for the Health of It is also canceled for the week.
At this time the district does not have hotspots available. Please contact Mrs. Smith or Mr. Dixon if you have questions or concerns. Thank you for your continued understanding and support as we continue to navigate the nuances of the pandemic.
Respectfully,
Lance L. Dixon/Superintendent
Molly Smith/Principal

The last couple days of school last week were extremely challenging due to the number of exposures and contact tracing events. Over the weekend we were notified of several other positive cases. In light of what we are seeing, it is more imperative now than ever that you keep you child home if they are feeling sick, running a fever or displaying any symptoms. Please help us control potential spread of the virus by emphasizing to your children the importance of wearing face coverings while at school and school events.
If we continue to have more positive cases and exposure at school, the district may be forced to return to limited visitors and spectators at school events and extra curricular activities. Thanks for your help as we once again navigate the nuances of this pandemic while trying to keep students in school and participating in activities at all levels!

There will be no athletic practices until Wednesday, January 19th. This includes practices at all levels.
